RE: feather bed for a mattress topper?
Feather toppers slide all over the mattress even when cinched down with sheet tighteners. I'm hopefully getting a new memory foam for my bed at home and moving the current foam to the camper...

Yellow Flies can be a big problem there, but there weren't any when I was there in late June. Believe it or not, but "Vanilla" Herbal essence spray wards off bugs and keeps you smelling nice at the same time.

I feel your pain like you wouldn't believe! We bought our "new to us" TT in April '07. We already had a '91 Coleman Plantation PUP. It fit through our gate in the back yard just fine and backed up all the way around the house too. We thought we were such pros...bwahahahahaha!!!
The first trip out in the "new toy"...it goes through the fence gate on one side and the other side of the gate went straight up towards God! #&#(%^**^%^$$$!!!! Loverboy "caulks" the torn up side because God said "Let it rain....right NOW!!!! And that was only the beginning of the maiden voyage from Hell...we didn't get a chance to do a "shake-down" trip first...so our maiden voyage was VACATION! Hee hee!
Long story, short...we have marred both sides of the TT and uprooted both gate posts at least once. We also killed a forsythia bush because it was always in the way...Grrrrr! But NOW, we think we have all of that out of our systems and have new gates in sight...and if all that goes just ducky, then we'll have our boo-boos fixed.
I squawled too and mine wasn't brand new....Hug!
